Ireland, an unknown period.
The second race of Earth, known in Irish as Thuatha De Danann, also sometimes called the Sons of Oberon, or faerie, landed on the south coast of Eriu, they had come from the land Tir na nog, or the Fairy world. The De Danann found Eriu already inhabited by the Fir bolg legions, a horde of monsters lead by the Fomorian king, Balor of the Evil Eye, who would not allow the faerie to live on Eriu. The Thuatha took council, and finally came to a conclusion, they went to the elf Nuada Hawthorn, one of the Avalon knights, and asked him to become king of the De Danann. Nuada agreed, he then told the dwarfs to build forgeries and smith armor and weapons of silver, and so the first army of faerie was made. King Balor mustered together all the legions of the Fir bolg and marched against the Thuatha De Danann on the plains of Ithe. During the battle, Nuada confronted Balor in single-combat, and after having his right arm chopped off, Nuada drove away his enemy. After the Battle of Magh Ithe, the elf Cecht Fiacha gave Nuada a silver arm, henceforth he was known as Nuada Argetlam ("Silver hand"). Two years later, in the Second Battle of Magh Ithe, Balor opened his Evil Eye, which slew King Nuada, but Lu, Nuada's shield bearer, took up Nuada's sword and killed King Balor. After the Second Battle of Magh Ithe, Bres, a half-fomorian, half-elf faerie, made himself king of the De Danann for three years, then Lu and Ollathair overthrew him. Then Oberon appeared to the faerie and told them to erect a stone, called Lia Fail, on the hill of Tara, and each candidate for High King would place his hand on it and it would choose the rightful king. The Thuatha did so, and when Lu put his hand on it he was chosen by the Lia Fail to be king of all faerie, so there after, the descendants of Lu were the kings and queens of the De Danann, and from that day on, the faerie renamed Eriu to Inis Fail.
